Aishwarya Rai won the Ford Supermodel Contest at the age of 17, and has been on a roll ever since. She began her professional career as a model in several high-profile advertising campaigns in her native India. Her modeling led to a successful run in the world of beauty pageants.  she became the international ambassador for Longines watches in 1999 and in 2005, Aishwarya Rai signed with L'Oreal.

Aishwarya Rai Miss world 1994:
Aishwarya Rai was crowned as Miss world in 1994. The Tough competition was held South Africa's Suncity. There were 87 contestants from all over the world.
Aishwarya was selected from them and crowned as Miss World 1994, after passing many tough tests and of course with her lovely smile and her charming beauty. Again in the year 2000, Aishwarya Rai, was named the Most Beautiful Miss World of All Times after receiving a score of 9.911.

Her winning at beauty pageants comes as no surprise, because beauty that glorious has a way of conquering the world. And eventually she did conquer the world, by claiming the ' Miss World title', in South Africa. Immediately after being crowned Miss World 1994, Aishwarya Rai spoke of her dream for peace for this world, and her desire to be an ambassador of peace during her one-year reign.

Mumbai, April 20 (IANS) After a fairy tale wedding and a busy and eventful year, Bollywood’s most talked about couple Abhishek Bachchan and Aishwarya Rai took a break to celebrate their first wedding anniversary Sunday - away from the prying eyes of the media - in Miami. “Not that they planned so. It just happened,” said Amitabh Bachchan of the location. 

'Sarkar Raj' Premiere at IIFA lacked luster, Bangkok.

Sarkar Raj was one of the most awaited movies of 2008 and a grand Premiere was organized at IIFA Bangkok, so one was expecting the stars to walk the ‘Green Carpet’ but the star turnout was quite poor. Kareena who is already in Bangkok skipped the Premiere despite the fact that her dad and Uncle Rajiv Kapoor attended the Premiere. Karan Johar, Apoorva Lakhia, Shabana and Javed Akhtar were the only few famous face who showed up for the Premiere, the only consolation for the Bachchans was the fact that the movie received great reviews.

IIFA was kicked off Bangkok in a very environmental friendly way as Big B the brand ambassador of IIFA along with AbhiAsh planted a sapling in Bangkok. Nobel Prize winner Dr. Rajendra K Pachauri who has promoted the cause of climate change also joined the Bachchans for the noble cause. Keeping in sync with the environmental friendly theme the IIFA would be rolling the Green carpet instead of the famous ‘Red Carpet’.

Bollywood is in Bangkok for the IIFA weekend and finally the moment that everyone was waiting for the Award nite, AbhiAsh walked the green carpet and Ash looked stunning in a red gown. Ranbir walked in with his beau in blue Deepika who was very shy when Ranbir couldn’t stop praising her. Teenage heartthrob Aaditya Narayan wooed female fans and Priyanka looked gorgeous in a pink gown. Kareena won the Best actress award for Jab we met and she was ecstatic, this is just the first glimpse of IIFA awards nite and there is more to follow.

Bachchans seeks divine blessings for ‘Sarkar Raj’ at Siddhivinayak, Mumbai.

The Mumbai heat didn’t stop the Bachchans from walking to Siddhivinayak; they walked all the way from Juhu to Prabhadevi to seek blessing of Siddhivinayak. Ash was dressed in a simple white kurta-Salwar, Abhishek too opted for white to beat the heat, but Big B sweated it out in his track suit. Sikandar Kher and Apoorva Lakhia gave company to the Bachchans as they walked bare-footed from Juhu to Prabhadevi; Jaya joined Big B and AbhiAsh at the temple. The family took blessings for ‘Sarkar Raj’ from Lord Ganesha at the temple. Earlier in 2005, Big B and Abhishek had walked to the temple for ‘Sarkar’ as well which turned out to be a huge hit, and this time they are hoping that their movie will ‘Raj’ on the box-office as well with blessing from the ‘Sarkar’ Siddhivinayak.
