Shiney Ahuja -
born May 15, 1973., is an Indian actor. Shiny
Ahuja is the son of an Army Colonel and was born in Dehradun. Joining
the armed forces was his ambition, but then he got attracted to theatre
and he joined Barry Johns acting School in Delhi, before moving to
Mumbai.
Biography
Career
Ahuja made his acting debut with the critically acclaimed Hazaaron
Khwaishein Aisi which debuted at various film festivals in 2003 and was
released in theatres in 2005. The film won Shiney Ahuja rave reviews and
was viewed as one of the best films of that year. Ahuja won the Best
male debut filmfare award for his performance. He however grew more
familiar with mainstream audiences with Karam (2005), where he starred
alongside John Abraham and Priyanka Chopra. He then became popular with
his title role in Mahesh Bhatt's Gangster (2006) opposite Emraan Hashmi
which was both a critical and commercial success.
His next release in 2006 was Woh Lamhe which was critically acclaimed
and did moderately at the box office. The film was based on the
real-life story on the romance between Bollywood director Mahesh Bhatt
and the late actress Parveen Babi, the 1970s glamour girl. His third
release Zindaggi Rocks failed to do well at the box office. His first
2007 film Life In A... Metro' opposite Shilpa Shetty picked up after a
slow start and became a box office hit. His recent releases were Bhool
Bhulaiya which has been very successful at the box office and Khoya
Khoya Chand which failed to do well.
Personal life
He studied in The Army Public School, Dhaula Kuan, New Delhi.He is
married to Anupam Pande from Delhi, of mixed UP-Bihari descent. They
have a daughter together, born in 2007.
